Question about KKBA "92-7 K Bay"

Just a quick question about Malkan's Corpus Christi AC, KKBA "K-Bay". I know the market has been embargoed for several years now, but does anyone have a clue how this station typically scores in the ratings (either 12 plus in general or in 25-54)?

I usually visit the area every year, and I absolutely love K-Bay's upbeat, rhythmic take on the AC format. I've seen it labeled and compared to the "Movin" rhythmic AC's, but I don't really think it completely falls into that category. It is really a mainstream AC as far as presentation goes, but musically it is very rhythmic and very much targeted to the make up of the AC audience in Corpus.

Anyway, I just always find them very unique and refreshing, and I think they do an excellent job of molding the AC format to fit the makeup and the "feel" of the Coastal Bend area. Whoever is programming the station definately deserves some credit as far as I'm concerned. (Now, if Malkan would just stream online so I can listen here at home in TN. ::)

But I was just wondering what others who live in the market think of KKBA's approach to AC and how they are actually performing in the market. Any opinions or insight?

Pardon me for taking a trip to the loo, but anyone who would use KK in their call letters in a market this heaviliy Hispanic must have KK for brains.

I agree, they can sound pretty good, especially on the weekends and when Delilah is not on. They are pretty unique in that they are not completely rhythmic AC but AC with very strong rhythmic AC elements. The weekends are dedicated to what might be called "rhythmic AC oldies." The presentation does sound good.

I disagree, I don't think anyone has a problem with KK in any set of call letters. Stations use "KK" all the time.
Here in Lubbock, we have had "KKAM" for years, and this is a heavily hispanic market.

Happens all the time, much ado about nothing...

3 K's, that might be a diff story.

Corpus Christi also has KKTX-AM "Newsradio 1360"

KEDT-FM was once KKED

San Antonio (just as Hispanic as CC) has had KKYX for some 35 years

and then there is KKDA 104.5 in Dallas that is an Urban station so two k's mean nothing unless your in Hico at the Koffee Kup Kafe in the middle of town.
