Question About Magic 93?

Hi everyone....
I have a quick question does anyone know what happened to Fran on Magic 93. There was Katherine Michaels on the last few days and she never said she was filling in for Fran. So I was curious. I thought Katherine Michaels worked at another local radio station....she sounds very familiar.

Catherine Michaels is only filling in for Fran. Her last day filling in for Fran was Thursday. She is only part time on Magic93. She came from WQFM were she did mornings. She started her new full time job this past Monday at 100.7 WHUD over in New York. You can check out the WHUD web site at www.whud.com

She is a very good DJ and I hope that she stays in the area working part time at Magic93.
Catherine Michaels is on 100.7 WHUD Monday-Friday 7pm - mid-night.

I know when I hear a part time DJ filling in for a full timer they some times do not say I and sitting in for. The only time when you might hear that is in the morning.

Used bo be standard procedure and often enough it was station policy. To me, it's disrespectful of who ever you are relieving, no matter what time of the day. And it also sounds like whoever is doing the filling-in is trying to muscle in on someone else's territory. Could be just plain negligence.

A couple of years ago (maybe 10) I had a fellow air personality tell me not to say "In for _____________". The reasoning was if someone was listening in passing or driving through the area they may think it was your show. Seemed kinda of sneaky to me.

I normally read but don't post. This subject has me interested in asking this question:

Do you really think people today care who the jock is or are they more attracted to the format?

I think it is a little of both. Strong personalities can certainly draw a crowd to a station they may not love and the formatt can get people to sit through a limited amount of a jock they don't care for. All in all very few jocks can attract a sizeable audience without a formatt that people dig. Also I think that answer holds true toady, yesterday and tomorrow.

They should be attracted to both, with the jock ideally making the difference. Look at D&W on Rock107 - their morning show pulls huge numbers on a classic rock station, yet take a few seconds and track just how little music they play on that show. Logan likewise pulls big numbers. My strongest belief is that if you put live versus non, live will will win every time, format to format. Only problem is, live bodies cost money. No one wants to pay. Simply put, the bean-counters won, the game is over. There are no broadcasters left in broadcast management these days. Sad, very sad.

I did an aircheck of Catherine Michaels on Thursday morning and she did sa that she was filling in for Fran but when Frankie signed off he just said Catherine Michaels is next. Nonthing like Catherine Michaels is next in for Fran.

If you were listening, she mentioned Fran being on vacation at least 3 times per hour.
A squirrel told me she has no intentions of staying in Northeast PA, she's just collecting
a few more nuts for winter.

In the immortal words of Orson Welles: "Don't leave your nuts un-guarded"...

carry on

A squirrel told me she has no intentions of staying in Northeast PA,

While we're quoting, an uncle of mine was fond of saying, "It's polite to wait until you're asked..." So, has anyone asked Catherine to stay?
