QUESTION ABOUT N.Y.C./NATIONAL TALKER MARK SIMONE

I have searched the Internet to find out where longtime N.Y.C. personality Mark Simone is from originally, but cannot find even one mention of it. It seems a little odd that everything else about his career is to be found, except that one thing.

Does anybody know where he was born/grew up? I heard once that it was Massachusetts, but I have never been able to confirm that. Can anyone confirm or deny that?

I had never really given it a thought, but since you started this topic I did a search on Mark. Hmmm.

Most bios of NYC radio folks includes where they went to school, the smaller stations they worked at on their way up to The Big Apple. Big Dan, Cousin Brucie, Ron Lundy, Harry Harrison: you practically get their whole life. Mark? Zip.

All you read is the list of NYC radio and Tv he has done. Some MC gigs. That's it. He has certainly worked at a number of really great stations. I enjoyed him on WNEW-AM and still do today on WABC's Saturday Night show and when he fills in for Hannity.

But its kind of like Obama's hidden life: his grades, where was he really born (Hawaii - I've gotten over it!) etc. Or a particular religous figure who seemed to vanish from the time he was 12 until he turned 30. You get the feeling though that Mark is an NYC product like the great city personalities of the 60's.

Whatever his background, he has turned out alright!
