Question about News Talk 1450 WKIP Poughkeepsie

Just wondering why does a new News Talk Station like 1450 WKIP run a Solid Gold Oldies show on Saturday Night ?
Are they trying to copy WABC Music Radio Oldies show by doing this ? I wouldn't think they would air such a show this early with their new News Talk format. This of course is according to their website, I can't pick up WKIP in my area so don't know if this Oldies show is actually on the air.

Solid Gold Juke Box was a fixture on 92.9 WBPM (and previously 94.3 WBPM under Cumulus ownership and before that 97.7 WCZX) on Friday nights for many years. When Clear Channel sold 92.9 WBPM to Pamal, they decided to keep Rick McCaffery's show on then standards playing WKIP. When WKIP flipped to news -talk they moved the show to Saturdays, so the popular Solid Gold Juke Box is really just a hold over from their previous format. It is on 6PM -Midnight on Saturdays, but after dark you can’t here it unless you live very close to Poughkeepsie.

Thanks for the info MHVRadiofan, I love Rick McCaffery so much when he was usually does mornings on "Cool 92.9" and on the "Solid Gold Jukebox" on Friday nights, but now he is on Saturday nights playing the oldies as well as the "Doo-Wop Cruise". Sadly, I can't get the signal at night, because it's on auroral areas might be on IBOC. I missed Rick McCaffery so much, because he is still popular as Don K Reed does when he was on CBS-FM, but now he is doing it again this Sunday on the "New York Radio Greats".

WKNY is still playing the oldies on Saturday afternoons with Warren Lawrence for 7 hours, but it's a pretty good show. Does anybody have a website for the "Solid Gold Jukebox" with Rick McCaffery? I hope if this streams online, I will listen to it.

It is amazing how these stations think they are really making a difference by playing a few hours of Oldies one day a week. Didn't block radio programming go out in the late 60's. If someone in the station really likes Oldies, then please do it fulltime and really serve us. Why does WABC even waste their time on Saturday nights? Thanks

I would be interested in hearing the WKNY Oldies show if anyone can record to mp3s.
