Question about NHL Network

I am a U.S. based viewer of the NHL Network.
I have noticed a major shift in their programming this season.

It used to be that they'd run some very interesting programming about
classic series, the greats of the game, hockey history, etc. in the off-hours.
Along with tape delayed game broadcasts and repeats of classic games.

This season it seems that whenever they are not actually showing a live game
they are just running their "NHL On The Fly" one hour highlight show over and over again.
It's a fine program as far as it goes, but nobody is going to watch it from 8AM until a
game actually comes on around 7:30.

Any reason for the programming shift? Personally I think they'd do better with that
historical programming along with more games....repeats, college, juniors, whatever.

they probably want to save all their "classic" stuff for the off season, and just concentrate on the current season.

BTW, I'm still not over them dumping the second game of the HNIC doubleheader, and after hours..only to air them the next day.

There is an ESPN Classic channel. Perhaps the intent is to shift attention over there...? ???

Except that ESPN Classic (the US original) is becoming more and more an overflow channel for its sister networks, and less and less a classic sports channel.

Yes I used to really enjoy staying up late for Game 2 of the double-header. When you bump that to Sunday
afternoon this time of year you run smack-up against NFL games, and very few people end up watching.
Makes me wish I still lived 30 miles from the border!

Last night I was treated to the HNIC broadcast of Boston at Montreal via the
US feed of NHL Network. A really exciting, riveting Original Six game from a site
with great atmosphere. Really enjoyed it.

THIS is what NHL Network should be bringing us more of! Live games, replays of
good games played recently, classic games and history. Not eighteen hours per day
of NHL On The Fly.

Okay, okay....David Amber and Kevin Weekes....a Hockey Highlight show and both of them
are black.....historic and groundbreaking, etc. etc.....I get it! Kevin Weekes is extremely good
as an analyst. I promise to watch while I'm having my coffee every morning. But PLEASE start mixing it up a bit!

maybe it is about $$$$ - meaning - the nhL on the fly
sells the spots, and cover costs, ( i know , blah !!) but
. . . why - - when u have viewers like me, at the time of this
posting worked 2-10pm/3-11pm, and would put the nhl.on the fly
(on) and then use dvr (f.fwd)/rewind, at midnite to "catch up"
-but now, i work 5:30 am or so, til dinner time, the same program
fits my schedule... sadly, if they are content with being a half hour
"catch up" late nite/day part, well - -then .. ..why load it up
when getting by is "good enough"
