Question about PBS game show from the 1970's?

I have a question about a game show that I saw in reruns back in the 1980's on PBS that aired originally in the 1970's. The host was a bearded man and they have opposing teams of 3 kids on each team and it was a question and answer game that had questions on history, science, and all things in general. I was wondering what the name of the show was? I know that it started with a C and either was called Connections or Contact(not 3-2-1 Contact).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I remember one that was shown during classroom-TV hours on Kentucky
Educational Television (KET), a state-owned public TV network that
was was called CONTRACT! and there were 2 opposing teams of 3 kids
on each side of the host/moderator. they would show this during the
regular in-school broadcast hours, and was about 15 minutes long.
I think it was produced in-house at KET and the moderator's name
was either Kenny Wolin? (or Wodin), I recall him as sort of a mid-30's/
early 40's-ish guy but don't know about the beards tho, he may have
had bearded on the show. I watched the show on KET's station in
Louisville which was WKMJ, Channel 68 at the time (the station is now
known as KET2). V.Carter

You're right !! It was Contract !! My English teacher back then would show it
in class on Fridays. This was 1981. In 1985 when I found myself working at the local city library, she and I worked together and I remember asking her about this show and I remember she was saying the show died a "few years ago". With that said, I would say the show left the air in 1982 or 1983. At least in Central Virginia.

Does anybody remember the old health/PBS kids show All About You? Silm Goodbody?

I caught All About You on PBS back in the early 90s. Brought back memories for me but when I saw the ending "copyright 1974" well, that made me feel old.

I also seem to remember a show we watched in music class back in the 70s called "showcase". I think it was more/less a talent show. Hosted by someone named "Alberts" but I am not sure if that was first or last name.

I do remember the show was taped on location at Pennsylvania's Hersheypark. Often they would show that wicked double ferris wheel and shots of the Comet Rollercoaster. Comet is still there but I think the wheel is gone now.

That's the show I was thinking of. I knew that it was called CONTRACT! or something like that. I'm glad somebody besides me remembers this show as it was a fun show to watch and learn a lot about science, geography, and history.

I remember back in the 80's when I watched it on Channel 9 in San Antonio, they aired it at various times but mostly it was on in the early afternoons. Sometimes they aired the episodes in a marathon form where they aired 4 episodes at once(an hour in total).

In Slim's case -- in addition to at least two in-school series, he was also a regular on "Captain Kangaroo" in the late-1970s and early-1980s. I read awhile back that Slim's still around and touring schools, but it's someone else wearing the graphic tights now.

You might be thinking of 'Al Alberts Showcase' which was produced
(i think) at WPVI channel 6 in Philadelphia. I believe they ran
this on Saturdays around noon.

Al Alberts Showcase did indeed come from WPVI. Even though there is nothing about it online saying that the show was nothing more than a local program according to a book I bought years ago about the history of Hersheypark Amusement Park, Al Alberts did indeed do a syndicated version of his showcase that was taped in the park around 1974-1975. The show was only seen in a handful of markets, mainly around Pennsylvania though one Washington DC station did air it. I wonder if there were two editions of this. One that aired on WPVI and the other that was from Hersheypark. The pics I saw of his WPVI show looked like it was done in your average local TV studio, not on location.

BTW..Alberts for many years worked at Hersheypark as their live entertainment director. He may still be there today.

More PBS educational shows from the 70s

Does anyone from the Boston area remember MET (Mass Educational Television) shows? I remember these shows and one in particular called "Ripples."

I seem to recall a Show in local listings named "Hershey Park" on WJAN-TV 17 in Canton, Ohio which would make sense because Channel 17 was known for having second=third tier (read:cheap) syndicated shows.

Al Alberts - Scandal?

I seem to remember some sort of scandal with Al Alberts and that is why his show was pulled. Am I way off or right here?
