question about skywave (skip)

i live in upstate newyork... right on the canadian border about 40 miles northwest of plattsburg. i used to get wtic and wabc crystal clear at night and even at 4:30am on my way into work. but in the last 2 months or so i cant really get it anymore. its really fuzzy. is it my radio?

It could be your radio, but probably it's not. It's more likely atmospheric conditions. AM long-range reception does change from season to season-- that's what makes it so interesting. WTIC does do an antenna switch, but it's much later than 4:30. The time varies from month-to-month, but it's never that early. What do other folks think?
