I would like to know how deals work with stations that air Antenna tv, me tv and especially retro tv and tuff tv.
Can affiliates run one of these networks part time or only the full schedule? I know that exceptions can be made for sporting events and breaking news events. Can they just air blocks in certain times or do they have to take the majority of the schedule to get the affiliation?
Luken's retro and tough make very curious. They run national paid programs in the overnight hours. Do they have to airvthe overnight infomercials to get the clearance to run the daytime shows. I am probably in the minority here, I like a lot of the second grade or somewhat low tier shows that retro runs. I started watching in the last couple of months and with retro I know a lot of their shows are either public domain or so out of the mainstream that nobody else wants them. Most of the well known shows were taken by me tv and antenna tv.
I do like those shows, how many times can I watch them though? A couple of examples arecDick Van Dyke or Mary Tyler Moore before I can't watch them anymore, at least for a season or two. Look at Leave it to Beaver and Dragnet, they are shows I like, is it really a big coup though? I've seen them all a hundred tims already, couldn't me tv go after some 80's shows? The same with Antenna Tv instead of getting new shows to replace them they just pull out old shows they have and plug them in. How about some creativity here?
I know retro is scraping the bottom to fill the schedule, I have started to enjoy some of the offbeat shows, simply because I haven't seen them before, I will grant you with a couple of them I didn't miss much ").
A lot of them are nice change for me like Naked City and Crosswords which I never watched until recently, I've started to find myself preffering them to watching the same Jack Benny show for the umpteenth time, granted I like these show, they need to rest a bit.
The channel that runs retro here used to be a weather station they are now infomercials all night. Could they run different programs at night in place of the infomercials or does retro require you to run the all night infomercials to get the daytime programs?
I am guessing that Luken might require it to make money due to the low budget shows and ads that run during the day. I think retro would be much better if affiliates could run an old movie or something of that nature over.ight instead of blocks of infomercials.
