Question about Spots on KRMG 740 / 102.3 / Internet

I have been relying on the online stream for afternoon KRMG for the past few days and for quite a while, I have noticed that a commercial spot will start: "Self Esteem Hotli" only to be interrupted by a different spot for another advertiser or for a PSA. The spot that was interrupted, is likely to interrupt someone else's spot later in the broadcast. I get that advertising time for the AM and online are apparently sold independently and I'm sure that someday the KRMG people can get it worked out so that it is not so noticeable.

My question for someone who is able to listen to the FM: Is the FM a direct simulcast of the AM, or does it replace the AM sponsors with its own? Are they the same advertisers as on the AM or are they different advertisers with spots tailored to the younger demographic that FM is reported to have?

I don't believe the AM and the FM sell spots separately. Arbitron has recently shown them as a simulcast, which means the stations must air the exact same programming, including commercials, simultaneously.

By the way, due to the current status of union contracts (and the way it's been for about 10 years now), certain spots can't be played on the internet without paying the production fee twice. So, ad agencies require stations to black out those spots from their streams. That's what you're hearing. If the current performance royalty proposal by the NAB goes into law, that will change as broadcasters hate Arbitron breaking their streams out from their ratings.
