Question about the Belmont Stakes

Given that the Belmont Stakes was on ABC, why didn't Dave Johnson call the race? When ABChad the Triple Crown in the late '70s and allthrough the '80s and '90s he called the races;I still remember his "DOWN the stretch they come!"Tom Durkin has been calling the Triple Crown raceson NBC, and I was a bit surprised he'd be on ABC.Any explanation?BTW, somebody put a set in Barbaro's stall so thathe could watch the race (I'm not making this up, Iheard it on ABC's race coverage). Yet when therace was on, according to one update on his conditionI saw on the web, he was in back of the stall doing hisbusiness, then flirting with a very pregnant mare.

Dave Johnson has a job calling the Triple Crown for Westwood One radio and ABC was unable to come to terms with WW1 to do a simulcast of his call. Durkin was available and does a decent job.

No argument here about Durkin's competency.I've just always associated him with NBC andJohnson with ABC. Nice to know, though, thatJohnson is working, and I hope ABC will eventuallyget him back.
