Question about transfering FM Translator

Hi Friends,
I own a small AM station and there is another AM station in our town with a FM translator. Our towers are about 4 miles apart. They are wanting to sell. I have no interest in AM but love to get my hands on the FM translator.
They are interested in selling me just the fm translator.
Can I buy the fm translator and tranfer it to my station and can I leave it on their tower and just pay them tower rent?
 
It depends when and how the translator was granted. If it was granted in the last set of filing windows in 2018, it is permanently linked to the other AM. Otherwise, it's likely able to be sold.
