Question About WDZK 1550's signal

Does WDZK's signal make it to Torrington? The reason I ask is because I saw an ad in the paper this morning that the Torrington Price Chopper (along with the one in Southington) is where they are holding auditions for a kids group to sing at an AM 1550 Radio Disney concert. I used to have trouble getting WDZK when I lived in Bristol and Torrington is something like 20 miles Northwest (even further from Bloomfield) so I would say WDZK's signal doesnt reach Torrington.<P ID="signature">______________

Are you suggesting they shouldn't hold the auditions there because it's out of the listening area? Why should that preclude them from holding the auditions there?

1. The Torrington Price Chopper may be the closest Price Chopper to the station
2. Price chopper may want to drive traffic to those locations specifically
3. Price Chopper may have bought a large package that alows them (Price Chopper) to specify which stores they want to hold the event.


OTOH:

It could be a poorly managed event and someone wasn't doingtheir homework.

In either case, it depends on the stations priorities and Price Chopper's priorities.<P ID="signature">______________

According to Radio-Locator.com, the outer fringe of WDZK-1550's daytime signal barely reaches Torrington, but WDZK's nighttime signal does not reach Torrington. Both day and night patterns are beamed in the direction of Hartford.

Sorry to nitpick, but they've got a location on the southbound Berlin Turnpike (US 5/CT 15) in Newington near Wal-Mart.

Getting this back to radio again, I get a so-so signal of WDZK-AM during the day here in New Britain's south end. I get virtually nothing from them at night. In fact, I get WQEW-AM 1560 from New York City in better at that time.
