Question about WZAA

Is their transmitter atop those towers/buildings just inside the Queens border? Or is it adjacent to the buildings?
______________

Yes indeed on the roof.

The buildings you speak of are called North Shore Towers. They are right on the Nassau Queens border. The building that houses the WZAA antenna is on the Nassau County side of the border. Some of the buildings are on the Queens side of the border.

If you know where to look and what to look for you can see the antenna from the NSP/GCP.

Actually Russ, IIRC, all of the buildings are within Queens.
______________

funny thing about that tower site... when WLIR was in the Garden City Hotel about a million years ago, they tried to move the xtr from the top of that building to a location that gave them a little wider coverage. The FCC ruling was, in effect "you cannot move the stick one inch to the west and keep your license."

Now you can hear them everywhere, but who wants to.

Thanks for the responses all. I recently discovered Microsoft's "Live Local" website and was bored and decided to go hunting for WZAA's tower via the "Bird's Eye" feature, and when I found the general area the tower was located in, I couldn't find anything that even remotely resembled a radio tower. Then I realized maybe it was on top of one of those buildings? Turns out that's the case. Anyway, thanks again.
______________

Re: Right you are!

After consulting Google Earth and MapQuest I was able to definitively determine that all three of the North Shore Towers are indeed completely within the Queens Line.

The diagonal yellow line pretty much represents the Nassau/Queens Line.
It is clear that North Shore Towers is indeed within Queens, Including the specific Building in Question. As you can see though, It is indeed adjacent to the line.

So all the people who told me that NST was half in Nassau and half Queens, are all Wrong! And now I have proof. I always thought it was dumb that it was half and half. Turns out that the only thing dumb was the bad info I got and actually believed for many years.

Funny. I've driven down that section of the Grand Central/Northern State Parkway and never seen that big yellow line going across it! :p

Hey...Perry! Just what I always liked about you... Re:"Up On The Roof"...just as smart-assed on-the-air, and, even when you're not! Just Love the referent! So ...How goes it with your "big stick" and your "ex"?? Or has "Jack" been filling in for you when you have'nt the time these days?
I miss those sunday afternoons..."the fastest 3-4 hours". Just ain't the same now. As poor as it is, You'd think that they would at least make him use another name! Christ...Harry Jay??? What an insult to the two possible guys, whom, with any common sense, should/could really be doing the "fastest hours" in your absence! Well, gotta go.
Signed,
"Guess Who???" (Now there's a real clue...in it for you...if you really use your vast "musical" knowledge...and dig deep into "their formative history".)
