Question concerning persuing a career in radio in Florida

I am a on-air talent/production director/promotions assistant currently in Indiana looking to make a move. I am wanting to move down to the Sunshine State to be closer to family, and I am just curious about the stability and availability of radio careers in the State. Any info would be apprieciated.

Thanks!!

Working in Florida in any industry is a crap-shoot. Pay is lousy, work ethic is questionable, there just seem to be lots of flaky people and lots of drama everywhere. Integrity is also in short supply. If you have kids the schools are an absolute nightmare.

But the weather's great.

Sounds like parttimer wants you to stay in Indiana. LOL!!!

I've worked radio in both Indiana & Florida and didn't find that much difference. People are people. The pay is better in Miami than it is in Marianna--just like it's better in Indy than it is in Attica. Our kids went to Florida public high schools and both have earned master's degrees from prestigious northern universities on full fellowships--it didn't hurt 'em a bit.

The real question is whether your ability matches up to the market. Indy is Tampa or Orlando. Tell City is Perry.

IT'S RADIO FOR #@$!% sake! The words radio and stability do not go together. If you have a good gig and you like it stay...period. The days of being the vagabond and the tumbling tumbleweed from market to market are OVER. The NAB and FAB sites have little activity. Below is the link to the FAB. Good Luck!
