If you're talking about LP (Local Primary) stations they are WGN and WBBM.
______________

WGN and WBBM? Aren't their transmitters a quarter mile apart? That doesn't seem like good planning.

More broadly, does that mean that when EAS is activated that all the stations in the area rebroadcast either WGN or WBBM's signal?

Not necessarily. Yeah, if a bomb destroys everything in that radius then yeah that might be bad planning. But that aside those stations have so much redundancy that they can remain on the air from their respective sites with a small transmitter and some longwire if they need to.

No. They rebroadcast the message encoded within the EAS transmission.

All? It's the Law? Hmmm!
Well, perhaps most of the AM radio station are equip with EAS.
in other-words, 65%(percent) of the AM radio stations, they do
conduct an EAS tests, on a time to time bases.

However I never heard of none of the FM radio stations do NOT
conduct any tests at whatsover! I know for fact that when I was
working at several different jobs, and they had their radio playing
in the back ground. for example:

One job - They had on WJMK Oldies 104.3 at the time,
No EAS tests whatsoever!

Another job - Had on WBEZ 91.5 NPR Radio.
This station has NO EAS tests either!

One other job - always played WMBI 90.1 Moody Bible Insitute.
Again! No EAS tests whatsoever at all!

So here is my theory that none of the FM radio stations,
Do NOT carry out the Emergency Alert System or do not even
conduct any of the EAS tests!!!...

They do them.. At like 2am or on weekends, when practically no one is listening. It also, by the way, takes 10 seconds (Radio - all you'll hear are the digital noises of the header and EOM) to 30 seconds (TV - TV stations have to run a crawl along w/ sending the header and EOM) to do an EAS test so it's also probably that you've just missed them.

Around here WZOK does their RWT at random times but WXRX's is almost always after 9pm.

Of course, you'll probably also claim that TV doesn't do them either.

Everyone. AM, FM, TV, CA, LPTV, LPFM and NWS. In Chicago, WGN and WBBM are the LPs, in Rockford it's WZOK(FM)/WROK(AM) and WXRX(FM)/WNTA(AM), in Milwaukee, WI it's WTMJ(AM)/WKTI(FM) & WSSR(AM)/WMYX-FM(FM), get the picture?

A lot of stations also montior NWS radio because they carry all EAS alerts for an area (WX, Amber Alerts, RMTs, etc).

Over the summer, I heard EAS tests on WJMK during the day--with the station identified as "WJMK 104.3" (good thing it didn't say "Oldies 104.3"--and I wonder if some Jacks haven't had Cogan record a snarky EAS intro like "OK, Jack FM has to test the Emergency Alert System now--let's get down with that funky beep."

It's been a few years, but I've heard EAS tests on WBEZ, as well.

Although the FCC assigns stations primary and secondary large stations to monitor for alerts, but I guess some ENDECs can monitor multiple frequencies?

Yes... Where I work we can monitor 6 sources, iirc, but only monitor the LP-1, LP-2 and NWS.

It looks like there is a mistake in that document. It lists WSWS 1600 AM in Champaign. Shouldn't that be WDWS 1600 AM Champaign?

WKSC conducts tests all the time. They just aired the monthly test at 12:36AM this morning just as I was starting to record the station. :)
______________
