Question for Bill Defelice

Hey Bill. If you know what's the status of Frank Wards lawsuit against Star 99.9? I ask because I think he should win. They used to have Matt Tansley, a long-time radio veteran with years of experience who has also taught college courses doing the two-hour 3-5 overnight shift. Now proving Frank Wards claims of discrimination you can see clearly from their website that Star has eschewed age and experience in favor of some recent college graduate with no prior radio experience who is doing her first on-air gig. It's ridiculous and Ward deserves a fair settlement or judgment. It would be like firing Samantha Stevens and turning middays over to the station janitor.

I honestly don't know the current status with his lawsuit, but I would certain hope that he wins. You may be aware of the fact that former Star99.9 alumni John Harper does the imaging for my webstream. I think he should really persue a similar suit since I think he was dealt the same raw deal. Of course, Cox is really sucking wind now as WEBE is basically kicking their tail and it's been noted that Cox is taking cost-cutting measures to compete such as carrying Delilah and having ghost-town overnights and weekends with more voicetracking than ever.

If I hear anything I'll try to share as much as (legally) possible - I wouldn't want to blow it for anybody in the midst of a lawsuit.

Thanks Bill. Though in Star's defense on evenings and Delilah, it should be noted that WEBE also got rid of local talent at night in the form of Elizabeth Yates to put John Tesh there. I agree with you on John Harper though.

John Harper was an excellent morning man, and the station has lost its way since getting rid of him. How many morning and afternoon hosts since? WEBE and WALK sound much better.

The morning show has had 3 hosts since. Tony Terzi, Chris Reno, and now Mike Mcgowan. The afternoon slot has been more stable. Mike Mcgowan did the slot for a couple of years before moving to the morning show with Reno holding down afternoons only for a few weeks before Mcgowan's slot was filled with Steven E. Roy.

Yes, in a rare misstep for WEBE, Elizabeth Yates just didn't have the numbers she had at Star, which I'm sure is the reason why John Tesh is on evenings/overnights. I remember when she was at my old stomping ground of WMMM-AM (I had left there when she was working there) and I feel bad that she was let go.
