Question for Bob Nelson, RE: KOAX

I’m planning a trip up Reunion Tower during my spring break vacation, and I wanted to ask if you could pinpoint for me the spot where the KOAX studios used to be. As I have probably stated before, I haven't been up there since I was a kid (probably the early 1980's).

Thanks in advance,

R

Wow! I thought I was the only other person who remembered that place. When my parents and I used to go up the tower (I was 8-9 at the time), I used to stare in the door of that place, my mom would have to pull me off the glass and make me look out over oak cliff. Whatever happened to those studios??

They were on the observation deck level, the cocktail lounge and
restaurant were above us. Right after you get off the elevator,
the glass enclosed (presuming its still there) area on the left was
the home of KOAX and, later, KQZY.

Thanks Bob! I would have guessed the glass enclosure would have been removed by now, assuming no one else wanted the space. I'll try to snap some pictures and file a post trip report. ;-)

Another Question for Bob Nelson, RE: KOAX

Bob,

Do you have any idea what ever became of Ron Knowles?

Re: Another Question for Bob Nelson, RE: KOAX

There is *NO* evidence of KOAX/KQZY's existance on the observation level of Reunion Tower. Last time I was there I was probably standing right about where the old black Ward-Beck console sat wondering if I was on the wrong floor.

I came aboard after the Westinghouse acquisition and the flip
to KQZY so I didn't work with Ron. At the time, I believe he
was still with KMEZ -- but that's, of course, many years ago.
