Question for Comrex Vector users

For those of you using this equipment, do you find periodic drops occur when you physically move the Vector unit while you are broadcasting? Does the screen image flutter when you jiggle the power cord connection on the back of the unit?

I'm trying to help isolate this type of problem, with two different Vector units. We're having trouble with audio drops, once a broadcast gets underway. This problem rarely develops orior to the broadcast, when there is no human traffic passing by the unit.

Thanks,

R

If it's like the old Comrex Hotline and Nexus units check the power connector on the back. They have a tendency to give up after a while and will exibit EXACTLY what you are experiencing. You might be able to improve the jack on the unit a bit if you're lucky, or you may just have to replace it.

Hope this helps!

I usually do two cycles of DeoxIT with a wash of contact cleaner between each and then DeoxIT Shield (formally PreservIT) last.

Works wonders with any coaxial power connectors like on the Vector & Hotline.

Call Comrex - they have a solution.

Or you can do as I did: pick up a male/female pair of 2-term Molex connectors from radio shack.

Hard-wire the male to the circuit board with a short length of zip cord, using strain relief.
