Question for Fletch, Zagnut or anyone at Cumulus...

I have noticed that for the past couple of mornings, KIOL is broadcasting in mono during the Walton and Johnson show. Why? Is this for the same reasons that KFNC is in mono?

Speaking of KFNC...if you guys are going to continue to drop the stereo on 103.7 during the Walton and Johnson show, why not turn the stereo back on 97.5 during David Sadof's High Fidelity? It would surely be appreciated by those of us listeners that enjoy his show every Sunday night.<P ID="signature">______________

High Fidelity is what mono was refered to before stereo. Hi-Fi was the term most commonly used. Since KFNC is broadcasting in mono, it makes sense to give it that name. Although, I know it wasn't the reason that name was agreed upon.

I never made that connection, Chuck. It does make sense, though. I'm just saying, from an average listener's standpoint, it would be nice to hear the music on David's show in stereo to get the full listening experience. <P ID="signature">______________

Wow! I never made that connection either, but I like it.
The name was just intended as a reference to the Nick Hornby book,
John Cusack movie, and Elvis Costello song. I wanted a name
that was open-ended. Obviously, I would also like it if the
show were in stereo, then I could bring back the "for headphones
only" feature that Keith Myles used to do at KLOL.

Is there any reason why the internet stream couldn't be stereo? I would gather that all the source material is stereo, just not the broadcast transmitter.

When I listened online it was in stereo but at a extremely low bitrate.
