I was living in Amarillo around the year 1985 and back then, we could hook our cable up to our radio and pick up K104. Dr. Rock used to broadcast from a club called Starz. Could anyone give me some history on this club? What is it now? Thanks.

Ushay did his show from Starz...I don't remember where it was. I have to ask around. Dr. Rock was at KNOK at that time. I think he moved to K104 in 1987 or such.

No KNOK....Both Ushay and Dr. Rock started at KNOK. Ushay was first in the early to mid '80s. K104 backed up the Brinks truck to get Ushay. Then KNOK found Dr. Rock. Rock was unique because he could scratch, and Ushay could not. Then some time later, K104 backed up the Brinks truck and Dr. Rock went to K104. KNOK was on 107.5 back then.

No, he means KNOK 107.5

I so loved KNOK. Scott West was my man, and Dwayne Dancer. I remember Keith Solis, Jackie Mackenzie, Ken Bell, Quinn Echoles(and the Jheri curil commericial he did for Pro-Line or TCB, I can't remember which one),Glen Cosby and the man Baron Bacon. It was so much better than K104.

When I first heard Dr. Rock, he was on KNOK. His skills were awesome. Ushay was K104. He was at Starz, I hear him mix in Midnight Star's, "Body Snatchers" with Phil Collins, "Sussudio" remix. Then, next thing I knew, Dr. Rock was at Starz on K104. This was around the time Whodini's, "Big Mouth" was hot. I do remember him saying Starz was on Marsh Lane. It sounded like he used to say 9410 Marsh Lane, but I'm not sure.

Didn't Quinn Echoles eventually move to K104? I know I came to Ft. Worth one summer when I was a teenager, and I was listening to K104 and I heard this guy say, "It's Quinn on your weekend". I also remember K104's voice guy: Bumper Morgan. He made K104 sound so good. He was one of my favorites.

Quinn probably did work for KKDA-FM. There was so much cross over back then. I think Quinn is still the PD of a station in Ruston or Shreveport.

What is that place now Salem?
Dr. Rock was at Starz. I used have tapes that I recorded off of K104 when he was there. He was there when these songs were hot:
Who's Zoomin Who?
Swing Low
Fly Girl
Big Mouth
Big Butt
Girls
Those were a few of the songs he put in the mix when he was there.

Shamrock is a bingo hall now. I don't remember Rock at Starz....just Down Under 1 and Shamrock.
Do you remember Bimini's, RJ's By The Lake and Fat Sally's.....boy those were some rockin' places. The memories.....

The only ones I remember are RJ's by the lake. I think 100.3 Jamz did a live broadcast from there and Shamrock. So what is Starz now? That's the million dollar question. Speaking of RJ's by the Lake, wasn't it later called Lakeside?

yes it was called lakeside..as to what STARZ, Starz BABY is today...I have no clue. Anything in far North Dallas is out of my jurisdiction. I'm a southern Dallas County type of person. I rarely go north of town...

There was another club that Dr. Rock used to broadcast live from on K104. This was when MC Hammer first hit the scene. I remember he said the club was located in Garland across from the Hypermart. As you can tell, I was a big Dr. Rock follower. I basically wanted to grow and be just like him.

Club Countach is the club you are talking about. That was the remake of the Fast Times Teen Club. Before that it was the 5th wheel skating rink.

That was it!!! What a name. I'm still curious to know, what are these places today?
