Question for y'all

I know that a very many times when flipping a station here to an R&B format, everyone is quick to say that Entercom should either blow up 93.7 or end the simulcast on 97.7 instead. Here is my question, why hasn't anyone thought of this scenario instead:

Have Greater Media take WROR out and move Lauren and Wally to Magic instead. They could shift people around without letting anyone go (at Magic) in theory. Also, I do not know how "96-9 Boston Talks" is doing in the ratings these days, probably much better than WRKO. I would think that would be another frequency to play around with also.

Now this is all just a dream as I know that Greater Media will not do anything with either of these stations, but just saying is all.

Both beat WWZN like a drum... then again, so would an EAS alert on a loop...

Isn't WROR among the top stations in their target demo? If it ain't broke...

Good idea @Retro, but I think "Dotothe J" might be right, and you also might be right, I don't think they would do anything to those two stations.

If anything @Retro, I'd say let 92.9 do that, since they have no radio hosts. 92.9 has the best signal inside and outside of Boston.

Thanks LAUROJRM, the only thing with My 92-9 is that I actually kinda like the station now. True it has one fantastic signal. One would hope that The Phoenix would try, but I highly doubt it. And yeah, 92.9 might be a better choice for a new format.

One still has to wait and see how 98-5 does. Not that I have seen the ratings lately at all and it is probably almost no cost to CBS at all. I could still see them jumping on the bandwagon in a couple of years if The Sports Hub fails, and no one else has done it yet.

I think it would work on 96.9, especially given all the big salaries over there. Doing a music/R&B format with jocks would be less expensive overall I think.

i dont know but i think you all have good suggestions but would anyone have a problem with a soft rnb like the cove on 103,3 hd2??? and add some r&b to the mix and put it on magic. but we all know any of this would ever happen god forbid that any station makes a change oh well i guess we could hope!!

Mike does great ratings and demos for very low cost. As much as I'd like to have them shift to a WEEI simulcast so I can actually hear the ballgame LIVE at work (new lighting has screwed up
just about all radio recep at my workplace), I would think Entercom likes Mike just fine as is.
WTKK does fairly well in ratings/billing, I would think, for its demo.

*--Previous attempt, FM re-broadcaster, no longer works. Now I take a $20 mini boombox, AM-FM cass.
and place it in a place nr edge of building where WEEI does come in. Record, listen back later. And if
I try to at least get the score via 98.5, even THAT is a tough get these days on the workroom floor.

WTKK salaries: Not sure how long they have Severin (would they try to go for Howie in late 2012?)
but he does have a multi yr contract as does Eagan and Braude (supposedly RKO coveted them).
Not sure how much they make.

yeah, I also saw the latest ratings for Mike FM, but they don't play everything. No true major radio station in Boston plays new Ruben Studdard music, Whitney Houston Music, Marvin Sapp Music, and Angie Stone music to name a few. Not even Mike FM who says they play everything, they don't. Not even Magic 106.7. I also think it'd be a good idea to put a Sports Talk station on 93.7, I'd also like to hear Baseball Game and Basketball game on FM too. I wish that can happen
@WBIMDJ, yes, I also agree, 96.9 would also be a great station, yes, I like the Cove as well. They're pretty great
@Retro, me too, but very little, I also like (very little) 92.9. I'm a 35 Year old guy, Rock and Roll is not my cup of tea, but it's ok. When I listen, some of the songs arn't all too hard, nor too soft. It's ok. I'm not a big fan of them, I do find myself listenning to them because it's different and their production (saying a name of the song before and after some songs) is great
