Question for Zune owners

I heard that the Zune MP3 player also comes with an AM/FM tuner. I was thinking about buying one.

Is the Zune good at picking up radio signals? Or is it no different than an average radio? It'd be a nice perk if it could pull in a lot of signals.

I haven't had many good experiences with tuners built into portable devices other than cassette players. Previous MP3 players I've used with FM tuners have only been able to pick up the strongest signals in an area, and the few CD players I've used that have AM tuners built in (I still haven't seen any MP3 players other than the Zune with AM tuners built in) haven't even been able to pick up the two strongest 50kW flamethrowers that are, on every other radio I own, easily receivable in the small city (and surrounding rural areas) where I live. One of them couldn't even pick up the local AM station from five blocks away... and despite the fact that that station, a 500-watter, will be the first to admit they have signal problems, there's no reason for them not to be receivable at that short a distance.

While I don't have any experience with the Zune, and I may very well be wrong, I wouldn't expect much better out of it in the tuner section than any other MP3 or CD player.

I Have A Creative Zen Sleek Photo, and the radio is great, i live in levittown pa and can listen to 105.7 The Hawk from manahawking NJ (40 Miles Away) while riding my bike, of course with a little static but when im inside and not moving around its in PERFECT, and it picks up the locals great (105.7 is Semi-Local, and has a good signal on home and car radios) i can even pick up some stations from allentown, reading, and NYC depending on where i am, so i think ZEN has a good radio on them, also i can record off the radio, i like that as well...

i was at office depot, and was looking at a zune display, and i turned it on and i got all the local stations, and normally radio's on portable devices SUCK but with the zen i love it and it seems good on zune as well (from what i have seen of it)

PS: radios on cd players are the worst.

My daughter has a Zune and she says it's good. I myself have a smaller Zen Nano and the FM radio in it is outstanding for it's size. I can hear all the high powered FM stations in the cities 50-75 miles away so the sensitivity is great. Selectivity isn't bad either with minimal images and splatter from local stations. The audio quality is good too. I don't like the Zune as the software requires Windows XP and my daughters PC only has 2000 so it wont work. Also the software is invasive.
