Question from an out of towner...

Sorry to bug you Denver Folks. I have followed KYGO from afar, since it's now PD, was ours at one time. With "Willie" moving in, I have noticed immediate, and deliberate reactions, again from what I can see here. Which is the website, currently.

Now all of a sudden, the word "variety" makes it mark on KYGO's imaging, on it's website, even the TV spot! There's an awful lot of reaction, and acknowledgement, from the BIG DOG. What kind of sampling (if any) is Willie getting, to get that much attention from KYGO? (Some would call that counter productive...)

Sorry, it just jumps off the page, when Willie Nelson's in the KYGO TV spot, all of a sudden, the night jock is "breakin' the rules", and "Nobody" plays more Country Variety, is asserted now. Willie's apparently gotten under some skin. Just wondered if it was making that much of a dent. CFKane

There's no Arbitron proof that Willie has made an impact.

And there was no time to have any proof through research that KYGO was seeing an effect from Willie. KYGO nearly simultaneously put on their counter positioning as to when Willie came on the air.

But KYGO thinks that they own everything Country in Denver (and they could be right), so all they're thinking is that if they do little things like copy what Willie does, new listeners to Willie will think they are copying KYGO and that it's the same thing as KYGO.

Willie doesn't necessarily have to beat KYGO to make an impact. Given CBS' unwillingness to dump marketing and research money into their Denver radio properties, they're probably banking on and might be satisfied with Willie just making a dent into KYGO.
