Question on current status of Kid Curry...

I performed a keyword search and the last post mentioning him is from June of this year, when it was reported he was named Operations Manager at Power. However, there were never any replies or confirmations to that post, and I haven't heard anything since. Do any of the insiders on the board have any updates? Thanks in advance!

I had dinner with Kid just before he left South Florida for his return back home to Colorado. He is doing fine physically and mentally. Tho I will not post what the problem is, but, I will tell you, as a 30+ year friend of Kid, that what I had first heard about him, and what I saw, is a complete turn around. Tho not perfect, he is doing well & is just taking a rare "think of myself for once and not my job" time off. I will be talking to him soon, and I will let him know that you asked about him. I know he appreciates it.<P ID="signature">______________

Stuart, thank you for the prompt reply and information. I actually was not aware of anything being wrong with Kid, I just found it strange that there was an abrupt stop to any mentions of him both on air and even here on the board.

One point of clarification, if you're able to answer: were you alluding to the fact that he is on a leave of absence and is not completely gone from the station?

As of our last conversation mentioned above, at this time, until I speak to him again, I can only say that "The Door Is Open" I know it's a stock answer, but it is what it is. When and If are still in question during his "personal time". <P ID="signature">______________

I Just spoke to Kid and he is doing fine. He is enjoying his time away from the business. I passed on your greetings & he said thank you. I'll see him around the 2nd week of the new yea, when he comes for one of many visits back to South Florida. He's keeping his lines of communication open with Power96. As for a complete return, it's too soon to say. Right now, Life is good & Relaxing, enjoing the snow and cool weather.

That's great to hear. I figure the business is very much in his blood after all these years, but I'm sure the R & R is serving him well. The only weird thing you mention there Stuart is that he's "enjoying the snow"??--hey, he's one of the few that prefers the Colorado winter to balmy South Florida this time of year, LOL! In all seriousness though, great to hear he's doing well and thanks for passing along my hello.

He's not weird, he was born and raised in Colorado. Like me, being raised in Chicago, every chance I get to be in cold/snow, i'm there in a heartbeat lol. <P ID="signature">______________

Granted, but I'm fairly confident in saying that I think you don't miss the months on end of frigid temperatures and constant snow shoveling! I get the "it needs to be cold to feel like Christmas" thinking, I'm actually of that mind too, even with having been born in Miami and having lived here all my life. I just think the winter lasts a taaad too long in places like Illinois and Colorado, and there appears to be a lot of extra maintenance that comes with it on a day-to-day basis!

Incidentally Stuart, since you've been so cordial as to update us on Kid's status, I was wondering about another former colleague of yours, Johnny Dolan. I have very fond memories of hearing him and Kathy West do the Top 20 at 10 countdown on Sunday mornings on I-95 and I had a chance to have a nice conversation with him on evening while he was on a break on Coast. I know he was part of a housecleaning there and haven't heard a thing about him since. Any update?

Johnny is a producer for WIOD's morning FIRST NEWS show. I think he also voicetracks for other CC stations.

I did a search for Kid Curry and all I found were Indian recipes.
