Question On Three 1970s Paul McCartney Single Edits

The radio edit of "With a Little Luck" can be had on the All the Best and (I believe) WingSpan collections. No need to reinvent the wheel there.

Interesting that "With a Little Luck" was a hit during American Top 40's waning days as a three-hour program, yet they usually played the full-length version of it, rather than using the radio edit, as most of their affiliates were already doing anyway.

For "Silly Love Songs," they edited out the (primarily) a-capella "layered" vocalizing of Paul, Linda, and Denny Laine near the end of the song. I don't know where the exact edit point was, but I would say that it was somewhere in the sax solo, since the sax solo only appeared once in the edit version.

I have heard an edit of "Jet," but it has been so long since I've heard it that I don't know where the edit points are. I just remember that it had a really short intro, and that I wasn't able to get my 8-track started recording it before the vocal started when I heard it playing on the radio! ;D Now there's a memory for you! ;D

The "dragging the chain" part of the intro was also edited off.

You're not missing much. I have a promo copy of this somewhere and IIRC it's a real hack job. Besides the shortened intro and a fade ending the middle is all chopped up too, one of the edits is so bad you'd swear the record skipped!

Don't forget there was a radio edit of "Band On The Run" too.

Damn, that was one of my favorite parts of that one! :'(

"Jet" wasn't that long to begin with (4:00?), so chopping it up wouldn't make much sense.
I was not aware of a "Band on the Run" edit, but given its "natural" length, it wouldn't surprise me that someone tried to shorten it.
