Question re: Columbia's "Legends" Classic Country station

I was wondering if anyone in the Cola radio market could tell me how this station performs in the Arbitrons. I'm sure it's not monster numbers by any means but I'm guessing it's pretty consistent. Whenever I'm in town, I listen and it sounds very good to me. The classic country station in my market AM950 (Charleston) is on AM with the tower in Moncks Corner. Was just wondering if a CC can compete on a metro FM signal. Thanks!

It's been stuck wobbling at a 2.0 to 2.5 12+ since sign on. Started to do better in the 25-54's this last trend. Generally the audience is 45+ and mostly 55+.

Yup, and the Classic Country format has a lot of the same challenges that an Oldies station has. How do you translate a very loyal, but aging P-1 base into dollars? Keep adding newer titles? Oldies has had mixed results with that. And Classic Country hasn't been nearly as successful as Oldies for whatever reason. I'm guessing that both of these formats will eventually be relegated to sub channels...

I don't know about sub channels, but I think one thing that would help 94.3 would be live announcers. I agree that we are talking about a niche market here that is never going to garner high ratings. One thing that helped the oldies station here in Columbia was switching frequencies with WLXC. The transmitter is over here in the lexington/West Columbia area and sounds better over here too and they have opened up their play list some too.
