Question regarding syndicated country shows......

Does anyone know if any of the various country stations in central and western NC (Greensboro/Charlotte and all points WEST) carry either Bob Kingsley's 'CT40' countdown show, and/or the ones hosted by either Kix Brooks or Crook & Chase?

Thanks!!!!!

99.9 KISS Country did carry Crook & Chase a few years back, but carry the Jeff Foxworthy countdown now.

Kat Country has Jeff as well.

I remember Crook and Chase on WFMX since my clock radio didn't care that Paul Harvey wasn't on Sunday. And of course we know what happened to WFMX.

WPAW the Wolf in Greensboro carries American Country Countdown with Kix Brooks. I'm pretty sure WTQR is running the Foxworthy countdown.

Thanks folks---I did find that Kingsley's show is carried on a station in Fayetteville NC-----at 5 AM on Sundays.

Now that is stupid!!!!!

At least there's a station in Danville, Va. which carries CT40 at 6 PM on Sundays, which shows a lot more intelligence!!!

To carry the show at that time of day, it must be a total barter. They would have to be out of thier minds to pay for the show and run it at that time of day.

Any of you guys ever hear "The Bo Reynolds Show"? 99.9 KISS carried it for a number of years. Not a countdown, but a very slick sounding show.

JTudor---Can you please explain the term 'total barter'?

I can only assume that that station grabbed Kingsley's show to keep it away froma local competitor, but airing it at that hour makes no sense to me.

Granted, Fayetteville isn't as large as Greensboro, Charlotte or Raleigh, but that's another story.

Barter is the exchange of goods and or services. Some syndicators charge the station for a program, while others will give the station the program to run if the station will run the included commercials at no charge to the syndicators, and sometimes it is partial pay, partial barter.

So by total barter, I mean that the station is not paying the syndicator for the program, but they are getting it free in exchange for airing the included commercials.

Ii cannot imagine a station paying for a program and running it in that time slot for any reason. If the program was good enough that they wanted to keep another station in the market from running it, I would think they would place it in a better time slot.

Thanks---great response.

I also agree with you ; 'CT40' is the most prestigious countdown show in the format, but that timeslot is indefensibly stupid, IMHO.

Have you ever heard of a distributor of any syndciated show mandating that the show MUST be carried only during certain parts of the day, or is that decision solely up to the PD and/or MD?
