In some cases, yes. However, HD is both an industry wide strategy as well as a technical issue. This is no different than a multi-station company deciding to buy Nautel transmitters so they can get a discount. Individual engineers may prefer other brands, but corporate made a decision based on suitability and cost.

Speaking of Nautel, Harris and others. Do you have a preference for an AM facility David? Friends of mine like Nautel but I have always had a preference for the DX 50. I know there are a large number of Nuatel 50 Kw transmitters in the NY market. Since Continental got out they seem to be the big two. Oh here's Nautels HD fact sheets.
