When your BSI/Simian completely stops working (i.e. the drive is asking to be reformatted) and your GM starts yelling at you for the station being off the air, do you:

a) quit because he refused to spend money on a better system despite the fact he was STRONGLY ADVISED AGAINST purchasing such a system?

b) quit because he refused to buy a backup harddrive and backup software for such a system?

c) remind him that he chose this POS program despite being told otherwise?

d) something else.

At the price of computer hardware today, why is there not a duplicate of the critical system parts sitting on the shelf. With the very low cost of hard drives, why is there not a complete back-up fully loaded hard drive sitting in a fire proof box, or the GMs home or somewhere?

Simian can be networked, or, essentially the same, it could be mirrored on another computer over a network. They hand out free copies of the program which you can install, but not use, on a second computer. Since Simian uses a hardware lock, if you had all your spots, music, etc. mirrored on another networked computer, you could take the USB hardware key, stick it in the other computer, load up the log, and be back on within minutes.(There is an access code you get with the hardware key--you do have this is a safe place?)

Even if you had to physically bring the other computer into the studio to have access to the program line, you have this back-up if you are prepared.

Indeed, if you were really thrifty, for less than $200 bucks, you can do a quick and dirty back-up system with Norton Ghost and a high-capacity external USB HDD, with rolling back-ups.
