Randi Steele (and others from the infamous ship) used to come in to help me with my show behind the scenes at WNBC (due to the fact that I had no producer for that time slot) and told me the war stories about what they went through.
While I have NEVER condoned the "pirate" philosophy, I must admit there were a lot of dangers and risks associated with that kind of venture.
I remember listening to the AM version of the pirate here at the shore during that time. It was rookie sounding, but much fun. Again, I don't condone pirates, as they interfer with properly licensed broadcasters, but it sure was great theater. I remember the tabloids had a field day with the coverage.

You Can Download The Final RNI Transmission Online At www.rfny.hankhayes.com It's 6 Hours Long And It Includes Lots Of Great Songs And Jingles And Lots Of Fun With Hank Hayes And Jim Nazium. And The Best Part Its In High Quality Stereo Sound. I Have It On My iPod And Listen To It Alot.
