Questions about Erasure's "Chains Of Love" and "Always".

Recently, I've been trying to track down what versions of "Chains Of Love" and "Always" by Erasure were played on CHR and Dance radio when both songs were currents and was hopeing that someone can help me out.

I remember the version of "Chains Of Love" had a intro (going by memory, it was about 15 to 18 seconds long) thst would allow an air talent to frontsell the song. This version ended cold, rather than fade out as it did on the version that was on "The Innocents" album. Does anyone know where I can find this version or what it was called?

Also, in 1994 when Erasure released "Always" from "I Say, I Say, I Say", a Hi-NRG version was often played on "Open House Party" that had the vocals pitched at least 2%. I was never able to find out what version this version was called. Does anyone know?

Thanks for any help.

Robyn,

The version of 'Always' which was big in Texas at the time and sounds like may be the same one you are talking about was the 'Microbots Edit'. Give that a try.

Thanks, Krash. That was it.

Funny you should mention Texas, but a friend of mine had managed to pick up KHFI/Austin in 1994 during a skip from Florence, SC and sent me about a minute long aircheck that she taped during the skip. One of the songs played for a second or two on the aircheck was the Microbots Edit of "Always".

Again, thanks.

Ahhh...I miss what a great radio station KHFI once was. It wasn't unusual for them to play just about any Erasure song that came down the pipe.

Yes, that really was a fun radio station to be a part of - it felt like a big family, and we all really loved what we were doing! Oh, and the ratings weren't bad either ;D

Station still does great, but the 90's were a very different time.
