Questions facing stations after this trend

So with the numbers out today, there seems to be some questions as to the future of some Seattle stations...here are a few that come to mind.1. It seems the Wolf is really biting into KMPS' numbers. Is this a case of listeners just trying out the new option in town and then will eventually flock back to the staton they've spent years listening to or should KMPS be worrying now and trying to decide what they need to do to regain their dominate numbers?2. The End has slid to its worst numbers in years. I would assume bringing in the PD from a sister alt rock station means they don't plan on flipping formats anytime soon. As the PD, do you stay the course with your current product (talent, music etc.) and make only a few slight changes with hopes of getting the numbers heading in the right direction or do you go for a major overhaul? 3. 950 KJR seems to be having some major problems. Is this the norm in somewhat of a boring time of the year for sports here in the Northwest (especially with the Mariners playing so bad) and things will only get better with the Seahawks and college football not too far off in the future, or do changes have to be made.Have fun discussing these topics.

It's a trend. KMPS remains strong, TSL is hurt by WOLF, but they still do well and it is way too soon to tell if WOLF will beat them over the long haul. KRWM and KZOK remain rock solid. KIRO is regaining ground after predictions of it death on this board. The only real surprise of this trend is KCMS. This station is for real, on a four-book, two book and dominated this trend. That is the topic for discussion on this board. KCMS may be the strongest Christian/AC in a major market in America. This is not a one trend fluke but has been going on for over a year. This trend established them as number one in every key demo. The station is becoming a solid buy for advertisers that normally don't look at this format. The numbers are hard to ignore. Why are they doing so well?

Apparently good news isn't just in the gospel, but also the ratings for a non corporate FM that is now vying for power with the suit stations in the top 5. That is delicious! And I like the fact that not all dogs that bark are toothless as KKWF appears to be moving up from nothing to knocking on the top 10's door. Time for a battle in moldy Seattle. Thank God!

That's a no-brainer. There's so much bad going on in the world today that people need an escape. A release. KCMS provides that.

True, it's a safe haven for families and individuals who would rather not listen to talentless 5th grade bathroom humor. Given there is nowhere else to go in town it doesn't surprise me KCMS is doing so well. And faith would have nothing to do with it...nah.

Well it could be KCMS is theologically soft on air and sounds like a "peace, love dude" type station, and that would be compatible with the libertine, athiest sensibilities of many Seattleites. So maybe that is true.

Dead time for sports talkNo Football, No basketball, No huskies, Just horrendus BAD mariners baseball. No one cares about sports at this point.

KCMS is a station whose time has come. CCR has been gestating for 20 years and finally is making a strong move in many markets, but KCMS certainly shows the strongest rating I've seen for the format. The lack of a strong mainstream AC in Seattle may be part of the reason too. Nice to see some of the good guys doing well...
