Questions For Those Who Listen To News

What are you looking for in a news broadcast? Just the facts? A little personality from the news reader?

Do you expect complete objectivity? Do you expect a certain bias in the news?

Is there a news voice you listen to more than others? Who's your favorite newscaster, and why?

Just curious.

Down here in Australia, we have a network called ABC NEWSRADIO, broadcast in all state capital's. I am a big fan first, because I am a news junkie and second, because of the personality of the readers. They add a depth of emotion to the stories. They more or less talk to you, rather than read. Other ABC network stations read the news, and there is NO emotion.

Due to the fact that it is a government run organisation, objectivity is a big part of ABC policy for all it's stations (they have 5 networks around Australia). This is another thing I like about NEWSRADIO.

Check it out....

I would like total objectivity, however realistically that is not really possible as we all have certain points of view. With that said I would like the news to be as balanced as possible.

As far as personality, I do like how WBZ does the news.

I've listened to the Australian Broadcast Company over the web in the past. I have a friend in Melbourne, and there was some news story from there I was interested in.
I like their news shows. I'm always interested in hearing what people in other parts of the world are hearing.
