Questions

1) Why does nobody post here anymore?

2) Is WMXB totally automated. Their standard Cox website lists no personalities

3) How can an AM move in at 1580 and not seriously interfere with 1590?

4) Why can't somebody do something with 91.1 ? THe high school kids could have 1450.

5) How is Liberty doing and do they have jocks?

6) How did AFN get two frequencies? Why didn't WCVE get 88.1 too? AFN shouldn't even have one frequency anywhere , but then that's just my opinion and I could be wrong

1) Why does nobody post here anymore?

With christmas right around the corner, I have been very busy getting things ready down here.

2) Is WMXB totally automated. Their standard Cox website lists no personalities

No, but I wouldn't be shocked in the least if they went that way by the first of next year. Cox is going to probably do the same to Y101.

3) How can an AM move in at 1580 and not seriously interfere with 1590?

From what I read on VARTV today(shows how busy I have been, just being on to that site once a week)it's going to be on AM580. With the way the transmitter will be done though, I don't see it getting anything but cellar ratings.

4) Why can't somebody do something with 91.1 ? THe high school kids could have 1450.

Not sure about that, but I have to admit to taking a strong dislike to 91.1 which is nothing more than Q94 for kids.

5) How is Liberty doing and do they have jocks?

Although Matt Nichols came on last night(I think by accident), Liberty is still on the air and jockless. One funny note though, a guy called up saying it's great to hear music in the morning instead of talk LOL. Doesn't he know that Liberty will soon have the staff and when they do, open up the floodgates as you get talk in the morning.

6) How did AFN get two frequencies? Why didn't WCVE get 88.1 too? AFN shouldn't even have one frequency anywhere , but then that's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

AFN wanted to get another frequency to have a more unified coverage for the Richmond area, just like Z104 in DC, which is 103.9 and 104.1. It's not uncommon for stations to do that, out here Oldies 107.3 has 100.3 as well. Kiss 105.7 has 99.3. WCVE has full coverage and also is getting a relay in the Northern Neck. So, as much as you and I do not like AFR, it looks like for now, that it's here to stay a while.

To all of you, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Three words: Busy as hell. I know that since my last post here, I have drove a moving van to Savannah and bought all my gifts off of e-bay, since I am too cheap to spend gas on a trip to Chesterfield Town Center. More than likely, this will be my last post from Farmville, as I am leaving for Savannah on Jan. 1.

They are VT'd in the dayparts, I think...

Well, now that you mentioned that, I have heard very bland and generic liners and such on Y-101. It seems that production is SERIOUSLY lacking there.

230 watts! Ha! *chuckles* Good luck selling that. Maybe 1400 in Ashland will buy it as a simulcast.

I am in full agreement that something needs to be done with that station. It reminds me of South Florida pirate radio stations: One minute overmodulated, the next near silence, mixed in with bad words and such. And this is just listening to it for 10 minutes!

> 5) How is Liberty doing and do they have jocks?

No ratings yet. Expect them in January, and I wouldn't expect Liberty to do any better than a 2 share 12+ this period.

Dan pointed out that they wanted better coverage of the RIC metro area. I have no clue how the hell they got a B1 station wedged licenced to Richmond with TVR'S audio on 87.8. I guess money greases squeaky wheels. Anyway, rumor has it that AFN's 'air-1' network will air on 88.1

Daytime and nighttime patterns of WLES according to Radio-Locator.com. That part of the dial, power goes much further. Not too shabby for 201/27 watts...
