Quick question: When did MOViN 93.9 become "70's & 80's Mix That Makes You Move"

Quick question: When did MOViN 93.9 become "70's & 80's Mix That Makes You Move"

I was surfing some of the MOViN stations, and when I got to MOViN 93.9, I was quite shocked. It's the "70's & 80's mix that makes you move". Now, I've never had a MOViN near me, however, I don't think that was the original MOViN format. Does this even sound good?

Ok Jimmy Steal, stop stoking your loser station(or two of them, if you count KPWR)

LA needs more current formats by the way, not 4 Rhythmic oldies stations(and if KDAY acts like a idiotic station and flips, 5)

First of all, who's Jimmy Steal? My name's Jason, and I'm 15, so if you're referring to an FM station, I don't have one of those.

I just happened to come across MOViN 93.9 and saw that they weren't following the original MOViN format. I am a big fan of the Rhythmic AC format. I happen to enjoy Denver's KPTT. However, if you want to call me "Jimmy Steal", that's your prerogative.

Bianco, this poster also said good things about KQMV/Seattle over at the Seattle board, so I don't believe that he's Jimmy Steal. Come to think about it, I don't think Mr. Steal even visits this board unless he just comes by to lurk at these comments.

They switched to that when KBIG went to my fm

Ok, I think there is a LOT of confusion here...

MOVIN changed its AC country format (formerly known as KZLA) about a couple years back (not 100% sure how long ago it was, but definitely more than one year)....

And it was NOT changed when KBIG changed to MYfm... because that took place about only 3-4 months ago....

August 17th 2006 at 10:18AM KZLA 93.9 was flipped to The Movin Rhythmic AC format, Then I believe that 3-4 months ago as stated in an earlier post when KBIG changed to MYfm, the format of KMVN was altered to play the 70's and 80's hits rather than the Rhythmic AC format that the station was upon the original flip from KZLA Country.

They flipped on August 17, 2007. A date that will be burned into our memories forever..... BLACK THURSDAY!

This is quote is correct.

August 2006: switches from Country to Rhythmic AC ("the mix that makes you move")

August/September 2007: moved in an Adult Top 40 direction

Late September 2007: became Rhythmic Oldies ("the 70s 80s mix that makes you move") shortly after KBIG switches from Rhythmic AC to Hot AC "My FM"

I've always wondered why they didn't stick with the format longer after KBIG switched to Hot AC. I guess they were too impatient to try to pick up new listeners. From what I hear KHHT has shifted from a Urban AC to Rhythmic AC to try to keep listeners from KMVN in their latest format.

You're an interesting 15 year old... you talk (write) as if you are over 30 and in the indie. Hmmmm....

Ha.. I needed a laugh today. That was a good one. Love the four reference. Sadly it's so true. I can scan my dial and hear several stations that sound exactly the same in two different genres. If I am not looking at the dial while it's scanning, I could not tell the difference. Here I thought I lived in a metropolis. ???
