Imus likes to tell people that he is number one in cars. That always amused me. But I'm not going to bash the guy. I liked him on WNBC. But I just think the show took a giant downward spiral when he decided to go into syndication. He turned all political and I never liked that.

Imus Numbers

"and has had decent numbers in the upper demos"

Had is the operative word here. Has anyone seen his lack of numbers in the last book? The lowest since he has been in syndication.

Imus was "THE MAN" in the 70 and 80's. These days he is just living off his history. I feel bad that he has cancer. Sadly these are probably his final days on the air. Personally I would just retire to my ranch and try to enjoy my remaining days. I don't fault him for wanting to keep his career going. But he has nothing left to prove. His best days are over and from here on out we are just hearing a shell of who Imus really is. He should just hang up his cowboy hat and spend what time he has left with his family. Back in 1993 he had a lung removed from what I remember. Everybody counted him out back then. I find it nothing short of a miracle that he's been able to do another 16 years on the air! It's very commendable. But Comon Imus. It's ok to retire. You've done it all. Go get some rest.

May be he's one of those people who will actually die faster if he retires? Know what I mean?
