Quinn & Rose #1 in morning drive.

Top 40 was a uniter, not a divider. Like Facebook or Twitter today, we (back then) believed every teen-ager in town was tuned to the "big" stations in the area whatever the area. Pittsburgh really only had KQV, so it was like everybody from Greenfield to Sewickly had it on. Guys like Brinkman and Quinn had universal appeal. Any real competition was only daytime although places like LA had multiple choices. Guess in that sense Limbaughs audience must believe they are a community just as much as i did listening to Quinn or Cousin Brucie way back WENN.

You make a good point. It's a lot easier to be #1 when there is no really viable #2. I can remember when the only choice for radio when out cruising was Quinn on KQV, Ed and Wendy on KDKA, "beautiful music" on WRYT, or static on WMCK.

What's the ranking Persons 25-54? Neo-con talk works well with upper-demo white folks in the burbs who feel like it's "us against the world." Ain't nothin' wrong with that, it's all about knowing who the audience is and playing to the room. But there's a world of difference between beings #1 12+ and #1 25-54 (or 35-64, for that matter.) Just sayin'.

Quinn & Rose are #2 25-54. They are #1 35-64. In both cases, this is driven by what is far-and-away the highest TSL in the market. Not surprising, given the nature of the format.

The top 10 (11) 25-54:

1. WDVE 14.9 share
2. WPGB 11.3
3. WRRK 9.7
4. WSHH 7.5
5t. WWSW 5.3
5t. WDSY 5.3
7. WXDX 5.1
8. WOGG 4.6
9. WKST 4.2
10t. WDUQ 4.2
10t. WZPT 4.2

KDKA-AM is 12th with a 3.8, for those who are curious.

The top 10 35-64:

1. WPGB 13.5
2. WDVE 12.9
3. WRRK 7.5
4. WSHH 7.2
5. KDKA-AM 6.8
6. WWSW 5.2
7. WDSY 5.1
8t. WDUQ 4.2
8t. WOGG 4.2
10. WZPT 3.9

Quinn is one of the biggest talents ever to hit the air in Pittsburgh. Having listened to him in the 60's and worked with him at B-94....I actually trained him on the board just after his hire, that was surreal (lol)....and now, he's successfully reinvented himself and is still viable and very much 'of today', unlike a lot of music jocks from back in the day! I, personally, never had a problem with Quinn. That being said, you may not agree with his politics or care much for him personally, but you gotta give the guy his due, still managing a number one rating....in 2010!!

I loved the guy back on KQV. He had a quick wit and funny bits like his hair, the eskimo, and garlic milkshakes. I thought he was probably the best KQV had up till I moved in 1967. I never heard him on B94. When I was living in Richmond, WLEE had a promotion for a new jock named Jim Quinn. I was real excited thinking Quinn the Eskimo was coming to my adopted hometown. it was not the same guy. whatever he is doing now I am sure he is doing it well. I just don't like any talk radio from Premier's conservative stuff to what used to be Air America. I am really happy with Tampa radio because they have Q105 that sounds as close to Sixties station as I could expect. Guess I'm a stereotype.
