Quinnipiac Radio Dead?

WQAQ 98.1 the college station at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT is apparently gone for good. An employee of Clear Channel who is a WQAQ alumnist posted a message on Allan Sniffen's board stating that college officials removed the tower and he's urging people to write to the president of the univeristy to get him to build a new tower.

Here's the article from Quinnipac's Newspaper: http://www.quchronicle.com/media/st...200609061448&sourcedomain=www.quchronicle.com

Didn't the university also have WQAM(?) a companion AM as well? Do they still have it or was that spun off from the school? I remember when it was donated to them not too shortly before the Grahams donated WMMM-AM to Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.

WQMA, is on 560 as a sports talk station in Miami.

Quinnipiac University filed a Special Temporary Authority on September 1, 2006 to keep WQAQ Silent. Here's an exerpt from that application..

"STATION WQAQ, A CLASS D FM NCE-STATION SUSPENDED OPERATIONS AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR, MAY 1, 2006. THE TOWER FROM WHICH THE STATION HAD BEEN OPERATING ON THE SCHOOL'S CAMPUS HAS BEEN DISMANTLED. LICENSEE RESPECTFULLY REQUESTS AUTHORITY TO REMAIN SILENT PENDING COMPLETION OF EFFORTS TO LOCATE ANOTHER TOWER SITE. "

The Dolphins station is WQAM-AM 560. Have to nitpick. Sorry! :)
