Anyone notice the many changes?

Some were publicized and not that grand, I guess, such as WCBS HD@ from Jack FM to ToNY (seems Tony is SLIGHTLY more urban and gender balanced than Jack)

Then their was another temporary WSKQ HD2 at 97.9, for a few days their HD2 station was a simulcast of "One Caribbean Radio" (remember awhile ago their temporary Arabic Pop moment. As of now, seems the HD2 is off again, but WSKQ is definitely testing HD2 for something

However, most important, my mother ALWAYS listens to WLTW 106.7 HD2 Classic Lite, so this morning I was wondring why she had country music on instead... Well, 106.7 HD2 Is now New York's Country Station instead, WITH DJ's this time. (But wasn't WLTW HD2 one of the premium HD2 stations doing better than anyone else out there in HD?)

So logically, I said, If 106.7 HD2 is now country, what is 103.5 HD2,?? It seems to be Dance, modern dance? Could Pulse 87 really have scared KTU into making their HD2 go modern dance as a direct head on competitor?

Any opinions on these changes? Anyone else notice?

*P.S. I just heard WKTU HD2 announce in the background, apparently their now "Pride FM", Interesting, and so the dance field gets yet more crowded.

Just realized that 98.7 HD2 replaced their Gospel Music Format with World Band Media's Indian Pop Format

It seems that Clear Channel is trying to fill in a hole with the country format. However, they can't figure out where it is best to put it. Dropping Classic Lite is also a strange move. If anything, there is a hole that either WFAS, if they could pull the trigger on the move into the city, or Fresh 102.7 could fill in right away.

If I had a choice between keeping Classic Lite or putting on Country music, I'd go with Classic Lite.

Isn't WNEW still broadcasting on 102.7 HD-2?

If I were clear channel, I'd have kept classic lite on 106.7-HD2, Maybe put Modern Dance as they did on KTU 103.5-HD2, ...... I would have stuck Country on 104.3 - HD2 2, as classic Rock is at overkill in this market.

I (hiding my face) have an HD radio. Listening to the format, musically it doesn't sound any different than what 'KTU "standard" is doing now. The only added features are shows that target the GLBT lifestyle.

The only thing I have an issue with about "Pride Radio" and it isn't about the station itself. It's basically those that are ignorant, that they'll continue to pigeonhole dance music as a "gay" thing. And while the gay community has certainly done a LOT for the dance music industry, and to that, I tip my hat to them; they know how proud I am! :), gays DO listen to more than dance music. This just permeates a negative stereotype, one that hasn't helped the growth of dance music based on the ignorance and close-mindedness of others towards gays.

Locally (since "Pride" is a CC feed for the HD-2 stations within the company ), there SHOULD be more radio shows targeted to the GLBT lifestyle, at least on the AM. There is certainly a substantial population here, one that has a large disposable income.

But so as I don't "bogart" this thread to a different direction...back to the HD-2 format changes :)

For all 5 people with an HD radio, this is big news.

Make that six. I picked up the Insignia $50 HD radio, and I'm now sitting in Middletown, NJ listening to The Pixies on K-Rock at WXRK-HD2. (Can't get 90.5 on this side of the building...)

And I'll get all stabby if that goes away.
