QWIK Rock Collegian Article

FTA -"...it's original incarnation, QWK Rock, WQWK-FM 103.1, was replaced on Aug. 2 with a traditional talk show station."

But if this is so, "merged with last Spring's ratings" means Forever took off the number one rated format in the market? Can this be? Are we missing something?

Wonder how that is going?

Doesn't that imply that the new QWiK LOST listeners? They were in the number 1 slot for 12+ for 3 or 4 ratings periods in a row. If they are taking bragging rights for broken out categories and 12+ is not mentioned, then who moved UP?

The two-book average means that the "new Quick" (WQCK?) numbers for 105.9 are averaged with "Joe" (WJOW)--which were nothing--so they must have blown the doors off the thing in the fall.

And the "new RSC-FM" numbers at 103.1 are averaged with the "old Quick" (WQWK-FM)--which were huge--so that means the FM news-talk thing must be sucking wind.

But always keep in mind that the diary sample for tiny markets like State College (#250-something) is so small that anything can happen, especially if it gets out of whack. So don't bet your house, or your business, on it.

Aside from the exact numbers, (as jackandcoke points out) they are not the most accurate of statistics, was it a good business decision to drop the format?
Maybe they are raking in big bucks at 103... but the constant PSA's "What if you took a different path... blah, blah, blah..." does not bode well for revenue - in addition to driving listeners elsewhere.

Wake up people, ratings are a joke! Companies PAY for Arbitron in hopes that they somehow end up #1 in one way or another, (male 18-34) (female 25-54) (deadbeat dad 16-38) (single/pregnant mother 18-33) (elderly bingo players that are sexually active)...(elderly bingo players that ARE NOT sexually active)..... Has ANYBODY done the math on the "paying for ratings vs. how much $ those ratings bring in?
