R.I.P. Bubba Radio Network?

Orlando (Wild 94.1) called Bubba "regional" a few weeks ago when they were arguing on air over that tribute song about Caylee Anthony. Wonder who's laughing now. Bubba losing stations in Jacksonville and Orlando is nothing new and no surprise. I think he's failed in both markets now at least twice. If you wanna be in multiple markets, quit talking so much about Tampa Bay "local" topics. Probably the same reasons he failed at Sirius too. Seems this guy never learns.

He's lost his Jacksonville station... And now, his Orlando affiliate is flipping to a simulcast of WDBO...

But he's still got Fort Myers, right?

He still has Fort Myers and Charleston. Not sure how he's doing in either city though. He's down to one Cox station now. Doesn't seem like they have much faith in him anymore outside of Cox Tampa right now. Wonder how long that'll last. Also worth noting his contract is up with The Bone in January. Maybe some more changes coming at Cox Tampa for the new year? We'll have to wait and see...

Fort Myers' Beasley station will keep Bubba as long as they can (and as cheaply as they can). Bubba keeps the numbers up in the top 3...to hold them over Middays (Even with Steele behind the mic)...and Stan and Haney take over Afternoons. Two talk shoes, similar to the Bone, and music inbetween seems to work well in the Fort on 96 Krock.

@Mike1985: I so wanted to see Cox plug Bubba in on their Long Island classic rocker WBAB (no disrespect to the current morning team there, of course, though they'd probably have to agree to move to afternoons in order for WBAB to bring in BTLS)... I guess if Bubba's terrestrial show is indeed done in 2012, he'll have that RadioIO thing (which Bubba has plugged profusely in light of his latest affiliate departures) to fall back on...

I think Bubba on WBAB would be an interesting move. It would give him a chance to prove he's not regional as some critics have stated. BTW I kind of agree with the critics, but I do think if he tweaks a few things on his show that perception could go away, and his show could be successful in MOST markets even in the Northeast. Maybe if he inks that new deal next year it could at least become a slight possibility. Crazier things have happened in radio lol.

I think the balls in Bubbas court as far as getting a new deal with Cox. No doubt they want him back on The Bone next year. If he's smart he inks a new deal through 2013 and starts gauging for those two years just how popular RadioIO becomes between now and then. Also worth noting a lot of people signed up for "Bubba Army early enlistment" on RadioIO earlier this year have three year subscriptions. That means these listeners won't have to pay a dime towards subscription fees until 2014. Might be smart to not put all the eggs in that basket until 2014 rolls around when those people have to start paying subscription fees again.

Bubba doing entertainment segments on "all-news" stations - really?

Then again, there is that third rock station in Chicago (WLUP) that everybody forgets about...

They will own more station by then.

I know, right? Not even three full calendar weeks (started January 11)!
