R.I.P. Carla Leonardo WCOZ

Sad news. Carla Leonardo who was on "Kick Ass" Rock 'N Roll in its waning
days, as an actual Rock Station in the early 80s, has passed. As I remember,
she was there from 1982 to 1984 before we were all TTFOed for the Zoo !
She lost her battle with cancer on Sat. Nov. 9…Some may remember that
she and I wrestled in Jell-O, for charity mind you, over at The Channel !
She was fun to wrestle and a great Jock and a team player ! She will be missed !
Here's the Chicago obit which only mentions that she worked in Massachusetts…
Go figure...

Carla also did afternoon news on WBSM-AM in New Bedford for a short time in the mid to late 1990s.

I remember Carla, fondly, during the WZOU days. I met her in Boston a couple of weeks before I shipped off to boot camp and she was truly a very nice lady. You'll be missed, Carla.

I think I just figured out who the King of all Halibuts is...

without giving away their identity, I will post a question for them... Hey King was Suzy Sherman your producer over at the Pru back around 1989?

still trying to find my password....

Just to be accurate…Carla NEVER worked for WZOU (The Zoo)…WZOU was what replaced 94 and a Half WCOZ…But thanks for the sentiment ! And, she WAS a great lady and a trailblazer for women in Rock 'N Roll Radio in Boston and many points beyond !

You are correct. COZ became ZOU right around the time I left for boot camp. Mea Culpa.

Yes, Suzy was my "producer" (actually whipping girl) on 'ZLX on the 42nd floor of the Hancock Building. Don't know
what happened to her beyond her moving to LA after putting up with me for a couple of
years.

The "King" name came from either Jeremy Savage (the Master Blaster) or Jeff Berlin (the Baby Blaster) at
the Cocaine Realty Building on Mechanic St in the City of Seven Hills b/k/a Worcester...

Yes, Suzy was, only it was on the 42nd floor of the Hancock Tower while in my waning daze at 'ZLX. Don't know what happened to her…heard she moved to LA, but it was never confirmed.

The KingOfAllHalibuts moniker was added to the previous, strange one of Supreme Allied Commander of the Rock 'N Roll Air Force by either Jeremy Savage (the Master Blaster) or Jeff Berlin (the Baby Blaster) at the Cocaine Realty Building (yes, it existed) on Mechanic St. in the City of Seven Hills b/k/a Worcester…

Enough of that now as this thread is a celebration of Carla and the waning daze of "Kick Ass Rock 'N Roll" in the City of Champions !
