R.I.P. Charles Okle

Charlie Okle passed away this afternoon at 1:30 after a battle with cancer. Charlie was a big part of the music scene around Arkansas, particularly Pine Bluff. Besides being a broadcaster on KPBA, KCLA, KOTN and KADL, he was also a BMI songwriter and a music and video producer. He was assigned to train me for my first-ever time on the radio in the spring of 1988 on KCLA. I just remember that he didn't go into too much detail - just showed me a couple of quick switches and knobs and turned me loose. He'll be missed.
