Dobie Gray died yesterday. His most successful recording was his 1973 tune, Drift Away. He will also be remembered for his moderately successful recording of The In Crowd, later copied instrumentally by Ramsey Lewis.

Odd fact: According to Wikipedia, Gray once sang with a west coast group, POLLUTION. They were managed by Max Baer Jr, who played Jethro Bodine on the Beverly Hillbillies.
