R.I.P. Donna Summer

I interviewed her twice....

She was sweet....She was a Pro....She was breathtakingly beautiful.

We're going to miss you, Donna....

J-D...I totally agree. Met her once in 1982 and I was absolutely stunned--just blown away by her beauty. And could someone explain to me why Donna Summer is not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame???

Good question. But then neither is Rush.

I don't think she was a rock and roll singer if we can take the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to be only for Rock and Roll music. Not that she does not deserve recognition. Which brings to mind why don't we had a Disco Hall of Fame museum. I hear there is a 3 Stooges museum somewhere in Pennsylvania.

So, under your logic, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is for performers who only did R&R. Correct? Boy, there was nothing like hearing the sledgehammer, head blasting, teeth rattling, gust busting rock and roll of ABBA!!!! Have you ever bothered to check just who's in the R&R Hall???? How about Chet Atkins, Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys, Woody Guthrie. The list of inductees is absolutely mind boggling. Also in the Hall are such greats as Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.......The Ramones....and surely one of your favorites, The Stooges. And you suggest that Donna Summer shouldn't been there? Let's see now, 13 top 10 hits including 4 number ones. And that was on Billboard's Hot 100--not the Disco charts. Donna received airplay on virtually all Top 40 stations in the country--not just the short-lived Disco formatted stations. And she's not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Oh well, it's comforting to know that the great rock and roll artist Run-D.M.C. is.
