R.I.P. Donna Summer

I would think WDRC-FM 102.9 should devote their Saturday Salute and/or the 6 pm hour with Rob Ray to her.

That would seem a lead-pipe cinch. Disco is a big part of Big D's '70s/'80s mix these days. I think they play more Donna Summer titles than Rolling Stones titles now.

NOPE! They're doing a Saturday Salute to Pete Townshend and The Who. I don't get it. Donna is now nothing? Geez! :(

Maybe the lead time for the Salute is too long. Townshend had a birthday this week, which they obviously would have known about far in advance. Perhaps the Summer Salute will come next weekend ... unless Robin Gibb dies before then.

WDRC did play more summers the day she died but i agree! that i was alittle surprised that she wasn't honored at 6pm sat by Rob Ray unless there wasnt time to prepare (also Pete deserves the block) so maybe next Saturday she will be heard.

I don't know if it's still the case or not, but a few years back someone told me that Rob Ray's Saturday salute show is Voice-Tracked.

It has that prerecorded sound to it, and I've always assumed it is. That's why I mentioned the possibility of a long lead time.

I like the shows, but one day I wanted to make sure I heard what he said correctly regarding some tidbit about an artist's past, so I called up the Wikipedia entry on that artist ... and found the exact same sentences Rob had spoken during the show! Are Wikipedia entries public domain?

Yes they are.
