Veteran KPIX-5 San Francisco anchor-reporer Doug Murphy was killed Sunday night when fire ripped through his home in Lafayette.
Murphy had been part of KPIX for 23 years, starting as a general assignment reporter and working his way through weekend anchor duties, sports reporting and anchoring, and ultimately to the anchor chair.
Murphy had taken leave of absence earlier this year for an undisclosed medical condition. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
