R.I.P. "Dr. Mel"

http://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Meteorologist-Dr-Mel-dies-2613477.php

Dr. Mel Goldstein had been providing weather updates for WLAD in Danbury since the '70's, and added Quinnipiac's WQUN along the way. At around the time he started working for WTNH/8, he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. He was forced to retire from WTNH last fall due to his illness, but continued radio weather forecasts for WLAD and WQUN until his death (his last update was Friday the 13th). Dr. Mel died Wednesday at 66. He had recently been receiving hospice care.

Very sad. I think he started at WTNH in '86 and was diagnosed in '96. Met him once, nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Through all that pain, he kept on smiling right to the end.
