R.I.P. Phil Roberts

Phil Roberts, Kingsport radio legend from the 60s and 70s, passed away last week in Winter Park, FL. He worked at WMCH, WKIN and started WGOC Top Gun Radio in 1967.

I hate to agree but its true. WGOC was a cool classic country in its day until the now defunct Citadel brought it to its knees. I worked at WGOC back in the 90's and worked at Citadel when WGOC was bought and later reduced to peanuts. I remember playing the first hits from Brooks & Dunn and the Canadian invasion of Shania Twang. Radio has gone to the dawgs since. Glad I left it.
