Singer and Canadian television personality Rita MacNeil died this past Tuesday (April 16th) at the age of 68.
A native of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, MacNeil didn't become a star until the 1980's, when she was discovered singing at the 1986 Vancouver World's Fair. This led to the first of several Juno awards the next year (her 1987 award was for "Most Promising New Artist"), and a long-running CBC television show.
